This week’s Re-Edit is cosplayed by Joker’s Harley, cosplaying as Harley Quinn from the Batman The Animated Series.
The 1994 graphic novel The Batman Adventures: Mad Love recounts the character’s origin story. It describes Dr. Harleen Frances Quinzel, Ph.D. as an Arkham Asylum psychologist who falls in love with the Joker and becomes his accomplice and on-again, off-again girlfriend.
Harleen Quinzel becomes fascinated with the Joker while working at Arkham Asylum and volunteers to help treat him. She falls hopelessly in love with the Joker during their sessions, and she helps him escape from the asylum more than once. When Batman returns a severely injured Joker to Arkham, she dons a jester costume to become Harley Quinn, the Joker’s sidekick.
2021 EDIT PROCESS
I started with the basic changes I always do, by adjusting the exposure, contrast, highlights, shadows, HSL, and etc. Throughout this project of re-editing my older photos, I do not refer to the original edited photo so I can see if I would make the same steps or make alternative decisions.
Using the heal tool, any seams that I can see such as the one running along her torso, I got rid of the seam, to make it more of a one-piece outfit.
The next step was to use a combination of the heal tool and patch tool to tidy any loose hair so that it looks neater in the photo.
After that, I wanted to change her eye colour to how Harley is depicted in the comics. So after creating a new layer of her iris in the eye, and with a combination steps of desaturating the iris to remove any colour from the iris, and then adding in colour to a shade which I was more comfortable with.
My last step was to apply the skin smoothening and contouring techniques I do in Photoshop.
COMPARING THE TWO PHOTOS
There weren’t many steps to this photo. But the changes I did make, the colours look more natural in the 2021 edited version compared to the 2017 photo. I probably should have made the colour in the wig and the red in the suit stand out more, possibly adding more saturation into the photo.
Don’t forget to use the slider below to compare the two photos but also you view them individually above.
