This week’s Re-Edit is cosplayed by Soffels, cosplaying as Ann Takamaki from the Persona 5.
Ann Takamaki, also known as Panther, is one of the main protagonists and party members in the video game Persona 5. Ann is a quarter-American teenage girl who has lived much of her life abroad; a second-year student at Shujin Academy; and one of the founding members of the Phantom Thieves of Hearts. She joins the group to get revenge on Suguru Kamoshida for the sexual abuse of her friend Shiho Suzui, which led to her attempting suicide. Her initial Persona is Carmen and her Ultimate Persona is Hecate.
2020 EDIT PROCESS
I started with the basic changes I always do, by adjusting the exposure, contrast, highlights, shadows, HSL, and etc. Throughout this project of re-editing my older photos, I do not refer to the original edited photo so I can see if I would make the same steps or make alternative decisions.
After doing the basics steps, I transferred the photo to Photoshop and started with any markings was to remove them using the Patch Tool, such as the crease on the jacket cuffs. Also in the background, there is a blue patch which I wanted to remove just in case it was distracting.
Next thing was to push in the stomach are on the white varsity jacket in a bit to give the jacker better shape. I did this by using the Liquify feature.
I next made a new layer of the eyes, and transferred the eye colour to be blue shade. I first using the new layer, desaturate the eye colour so it was devoid of colour, and then adding a chosen colour back into the layer just to make it look more natural shade as well.
My last step was to applied the skin smoothering and contouring techniques I do in Photoshop.
COMPARING THE TWO PHOTOS
There weren’t many steps to the updated 2021 edited photo. Comparing the two photos, it would be easy to say, not much has changed between the two photos. Possibly looks cleaner in the updated 2021 photo. The 2017 photo does seem more defined with the 2017 photo looking softer in comparison.
Maybe I could have added a false light source to add a bit more depth to the photo.
