This week re-edited photo comes courtesy of Mojo Jones cosplaying Poison Ivy from the Batman franchise.
Poison Ivy is an enemy and lover of Batman. She is depicted as one of the world’s most prominent eco-terrorists. She is obsessed with plants, botany, and environmentalism. She uses toxins from plants and her own bloodstream for her criminal activities, which are usually aimed at protecting the natural environment.
2020 EDIT PROCESS
I started with the basic changes I always do, by adjusting the exposure, contrast, highlights, shadows, HSL, and etc. Throughout this project of re-editing my older photos, I do not refer to the original edited the photo so I can see if I would make the same steps or make alternative decisions.
The next step was to make the photo warmer in tone but increasing the temperature control so that it gives the photo a brighter look instead of a darker look that 2016 photo has.
I cropped the photo to be a bit in to help focus more on the cosplayer.
Moving the photo to Photoshop, the one thing I did was to correct the twisted neck strap by using the patch tool to remove the twist.
I also in Photoshop, using the “dodge” tool brush to brighten up the eyes of Mojo Jones, just help improves with the look of the photo as I was given the advice that people tend to either look for the sharpest part of the photo of looks for the eyes to focus on.
After skin smoothing and adding additional contouring, I felt the image was good enough. I really like the 2020 edited photo. I don’t know why in the past, I ever like my edited photos this dark, I find it very hard to look at, at times. The brighter and warmer look to the photo feels more inviting to look at.
