This week’s Re-Edit is cosplayed by RealCindyMoon, cosplaying as Original design of Venomise Silk.
When high school student Cindy Moon was attending a public exhibition demonstrating the safe handling of nuclear laboratory waste materials, sponsored by the General Techtronics Corporation, a spider irradiated by a particle accelerator used in the demonstration, bit Peter Parker on the hand and fell from his hand, it then bit Cindy in her ankle before dying.
2020 EDIT PROCESS
I started with the basic changes I always do, by adjusting the exposure, contrast, highlights, shadows, HSL, and etc. Throughout this project of re-editing my older photos, I do not refer to the original edited the photo so I can see if I would make the same steps or make alternative decisions.
Check out the slider of the two photos to see the comparison.
While playing with the Temperature slider, I would give it a warmer look to the photo, as I remember taking the photo during the golden hour.
I then transferred the photo into Photoshop and start removing the excess hairs around the forehead area. As in the original RAW photo, it covered a lot of the forehead and cheek area.
Next, I decided make the Venom symbiote mark, looking deeper and complete, making the symbiote extend to the edges of the cosplayer. I did this by painting the symbiote over the original pattern as well as over the skin area.
From there, I used the “Spot Healing Tool” to remove as many of the seems from the outfit just to give the outfit a more unified smooth look. While I was doing, I noticed that around the waist area, there was an off-colour line which I just used the same technique to remove it.
I wanted to be a bit more abitious with the photo and make her eyes pure black but I wanted to keep the glare in her eyes. I was going to use the “Selection Tool” and do something that way but in the end, I keep it really simple was again, useing the brush tool, to paint in the white area with sample of the darkest part of her eye as the colour to paint in.
My last step was to applied the skin smoothering and contouring techniques I do in Photoshop.
COMPARING THE TWO PHOTOS
There are aspect of the 2017 photo which I still like, is how light it looks compare to the 2021 photo.
In both photos, I had removed most of the hair but in the 2021 photo, I made an effort to remove as much of the hair as possible.
Painting the eye black was such a simple thing to do in the end and didn’t think a simple thing can look so effective in the photo.
