I haven’t done one of these in a few months.
A few things have happened since my last update. I’ve been offered the IT Manager role at my current job as my line manager has departed for a different role elsewhere. Since being offered the role have accepted the job and been in it for a month and things have gone well so far. I feel like deja vu to how I’ve become an IT Manager in my last workplace. I’m both a mixture of excited and nervous about my new role, as the last few months in my last job, things got very stressful and a few managerial decisions probably didn’t go as I hoped. I’m trying to make a good start to my new role, so fingers crossed for me.
Going back to photography, I’ve started to plan a few shoot ideas with a few people who have expressed interest in shooting photos with me. One of which will be a session at my favourite studio in Manchester, Montrose Studios. I just love that place for all the various locations which can be taken there. It really gets my creative mind going to see what photos I can take which are both unique to me and to the venue. Also booking in time with cosplayers to shoot on location as I do love shooting on location, being at new venues. Being on location gives me the creative time to take the photo I wanted without feeling rushed. *That’s if security isn’t chasing out of the location. I joke….ish.
Recently I’ve been thinking about the future of myself and my brand of Food And Cosplay. I had planned to at the end of 2022 to close the website and possibly my social media pages. It’s the tenth year as a brand, starting in 2012 on Tumblr and then moving onto various platforms as they’ve come. But I worry that this brand is just consuming too much of my time where I should be doing other things. I have always said this is a hobby and not an alternative means to earn money or become my full-time profession. I have spoken to a few friends about this and they’ve given me reasons to carry on with the brand which I think I will be doing. It’s a thought I’m flip-flopping from time to time. I do enjoy being so connected with the community and don’t want to lose that.
I look forward to sharing many photos from adventures both at comic con and location shoots. Until the next post, see you soon.
