Can’t Wait to Start Shooting Photos

Looking back over 2020 as much I’ve enjoyed not being stressed from editing photos, rushing around a comic con event looking for people to take their photos, the one aspect I did miss has been taking photos of cosplayers or models.

I had hoped in 2020 to really push more of my photography presence to people and do more location or studio shoots but then the covid-19 pandemic hit the world and within days and weeks, everything stopped and all plans had to as well.

When things started to ease in the summer of 2020, I got booked up with a few photography gigs as well as set up a few myself with either friends or people whom I wanted to shoot with. But I had hoped to get booked with people who were itching to get out and get photos of their Cosplay. I don’t know if it’s a combination of people learning to self shoot their photos or people not having the money.

I do wonder if I should just concentrate on setting myself projects with cosplayers whom I’ve been with before but the danger of that is that I only work with people whom I know and don’t expand both my clientele and or learning to shoot with different people. I find working with as many people as I do during a comic con event, helps me learn more about how to interact with all sort of people from the experience, those who are nervous, those who like to experiment, and etc. Also, I get to expand my photography skills through posing, how to take a photo and working with the location.

I have started to think about planning for the coming year, but as I write this, lockdown is still in place but I know that restriction will be in place once lockdown eases, it will make trying to plan projects hard. Also, I know myself and others will have anxiety about going outside or being in an enclosed building. I do prefer to be doing an outdoor photo shoot with people as that seems to be the best way to minimise the potential exposure.

But at the end of the day, I have really missed being around people, talking to them about their cosplay, how they made it, general interaction with people and getting to know someone. I have missed this the most from photoshoots.

I do hope that 2021 will allow me to plan for some photoshoots as we as people to book me, cause I really do miss helping people capture their cosplay and for people to show off the photos to all their friends and family.
