I’ll cut to the chase here, I’m pretty sure Wonder Kat is a real life Wonder Woman. Diana Prince in disguise or something. Don’t go thinking she’s a one trick pony though, Wonder Kat has a repertoire far larger than one DC hero, as you will see.

Who or what first inspired you to start cosplaying?
My friend went to a con and said “Katya, you’ll love it, it’s so you!”. That and watching cosplay music videos made it seem so fun, I had to see what it was all about and felt immediate attraction to it, like I belonged.
What was your first cosplay? How does it compare to some of your more recent work?
It was Daenerys Targaryen in her Dothraki outfit. I didn’t know how to sew so it was made right before the con and held together with safety pins! Obviously my skills have grown, it definitely doesn’t come close to the armour I do now.
On the subject, what has been your most complicated costume so far?
Rita Repulsa was a huge challenge, it has so many details and is one of my most accurate ones. Also my newest Harley Quinn variant is some of my best work to date. Both were a long process and took a lot of dedication and procrastination!
Do you have a dream cosplay you’d like to work towards one day? Can you use anything you’ve learned from Rita or Harley to help?
I make a lot of my dream cosplays but definitely something crazy and huge. Armour with lights, smoke effects, just go all out! That would be awesome. Captain Jack Sparrow is my all time aim though. Every cosplay I do I learn more and more and think “well, if I can do this, then what else can I do?”. I always try to push myself.
If you could give any advice to someone new to the world of cosplay, what would it be?
You never know what you’re capable of until you do it. Try new materials, go out of your comfort zone, be passionate, try new things and most of all, don’t forget to enjoy it. Con is supposed to be fun at the end of the day. Also, heat guns are hotter than the surface of the sun, I’ve been burned multiple times so be careful!
