I’ve been following Kitty Stormborn Cosplay for a while now and happily got the chance to shoot with her last year. A master of disguise and managing to perfectly fit into every role she takes on, Kitty Stormborn is one to watch out for.

Who or what first inspired you to start cosplaying?
I remember watching Hellboy 2 and before I even knew what cosplay was, I wanted to make Princess Nuala’s blue dress. I properly got into cosplay though after seeing Daenerys from Game of Thrones, and made her wedding dress (very badly I might add). Alexandria the Red also inspired me heavily at the time as I watched her process of Disney’s Elsa and I loved the little details that she included in her own outfit!
What is your favourite part of the costume making process?
My favourite part would be sourcing everything. Enchantress is a good example in this case as I spent so long researching her and trying to find all the correct pieces for the costume, accessories and of course, the wig. I still do to this day as I’m always looking to improve her!

What would you say is your most complex costume to date?
Definitely Grunge Enchantress! With the costume obviously goes all of the makeup, and researching the tattoos was a nightmare. But now, because I’ve done her so many times, it’s second nature to just put it all on together, though I’m aiming to get her completely screen accurate one day. I did spend a long time making my Slave Leia cosplay as well though which I haven’t yet debuted. I have something very special planned for her!

Do you have a dream cosplay you’d like to work towards one day?
That’s a hard one and I don’t have just the one …I would really love to make Rocket Raccoon happen one day…Wonder Woman would be also amazing or The Comedian from Watchman!
If you could give someone new to the world of cosplay one piece of advice, what would it be?
My advice to anyone new would be to do what you enjoy. Don’t feel pressured or stressed out because we are all in this together having fun at cons! But I would always say to plan outfits and collect references in advance and stick to it, or just do characters that you love and have done already if that’s what makes you happy! I go between the two.
