The Netflix series have recently been hitting a new high after the joint collaboration of The Defenders. Jessica Jones had a great character development in her second series and Luke Cage was able to continue its impressive stride with a great second season as well. After an underwhelming first season, Danny Rand is back in the second season of Iron Fist, ready to use his glowing fist to smash crime.
The second season of Iron Fist focuses more on the relationship between Danny Rand, and his former friend Davos who feels Danny is wasted as the immortal Iron Fist and would use the fist and title in more productive ways. The show also explores the relationship between Danny and his girlfriend Colleen Wing as well as catching up with the Meachum siblings and the on going gang wars within this Marvel New York universe.
The second season was a lot more fun and enjoyable compared to the first season, where it felt like Danny Rand spent the majority of the time trying to convince himself, as well as the audience, that he was the Iron Fist. But with this new season, it feels like all the characters have settled and so the story has enough space to flow properly and breathe.
Finn Jones shows that he can have a bit more fun with his character and feels less rigid in his acting in the show. Sacha Dhawan who plays Davos was absolutely brilliant and I personally loved his characterization, in which in the context of the lore, he would be the perfect Iron Fist but has taken a path that leads to more bloodshed than salvation. Alice Eve plays the new character Mary Walker and is absolutely brilliant, along with Jessica Henwick as Colleen Wing, who really got to shine a bit more in the second season.
Now with regards to the costume, we get to see more variations of the original, which I think is another improvement made from the first season. I can’t wait to see Danny Rand and Davos cosplayers squaring off in the K’un L’un battle wear, but also I’ve always wondered, after watching both seasons how to make the glowing fist. I have seen before, cosplayers use a form of lighting in gloves, but it would be cool to try and use maybe an LED light held in the hand, as well as a dark scene to really give off the impression.
Yeah I may very well be planning a Davos cosplay very soon! but go and watch this season of Iron Fist! It’s worth the watch!
