This week’s Re-Edit is cosplayed by Jessienoochies Cosplay, cosplaying as Miranda Lawson, based on Mass Effect Game Franchise.
Miranda Lawson is a human Cerberus Officer. As Jacob Taylor’s informant, she gives him guidance and advice during missions, often via hologram. Miranda is very well traveled and has many contacts, extending from Citadel space and the Terminus Systems, to as far as the hostile Nemean Abyss. Her vast network of contacts may be explained by the fact Miranda is a known Cerberus operative, one who still has friends — or at least friends of friends — in the Alliance military.
2020 EDIT PROCESS
I started with the basic changes I always do, by adjusting the exposure, contrast, highlights, shadows, HSL, and etc. Throughout this project of re-editing my older photos, I do not refer to the original edited the photo so I can see if I would make the same steps or make alternative decisions.
I wanted to change the temperture of both the area and on the cosplayers face to keep it as natural as possible. I change the photos to a deeper blue temperature but then added a radical filter over the face to bring back the temperature warmer.
Following the “Rule of third” principle of photography, I decided to keep the photo in it’s original ratio, but just wished at the time to fill in the left hand side of the photo with some so it wasn’t so empty.
Transferring the photo into Photoshop, I applied the skin smoothering and contouring techniques at this point.
I also in Photoshop, selected the latex material and used a technique which makes it shinier.
Comparing the Two Photos
Comparing the two photos, there are points in both photos I like. In the 2020 photo, I like the more natural colour look, the bluer tone makes it looks like its on spacestation. The change in the look of the latex was most surprising as I didn’t think it would look shiny from the matte look it started with. The 2016 photo, I like the how bright the photo is compared to the updated photo, something to keep in mind in future edits.
