This week’s Re-Edit is cosplayed by Ocean Myst Cosplay, cosplaying as 10th Doctor from the hit BBC show, Doctor Who.
Ocean Myst Cosplay has featured on Re-Edit before of her of Morgana from the hit BBC show, Merlin.
Benefiting from the healing undergone by his predecessor, the Tenth Doctor possessed an outgoing, lively and genial demeanour that hid his underlying guilt, but it was still present and would appear if the Doctor was overwhelmed.
2020 EDIT PROCESS
I started with the basic changes I always do, by adjusting the exposure, contrast, highlights, shadows, HSL, and etc. Throughout this project of re-editing my older photos, I do not refer to the original edited the photo so I can see if I would make the same steps or make alternative decisions.
The image I wanted to straighten up so that she was more central and also at a better angle to the surrounding area, so that the cosplayer wasn’t seen to be leaning in the photo.
I wanted to keep have the cosplayer more out of the shadows but keep the background in darker shadow. I created an Eclipse filter and converted the background from the smae lit illumination to a darker tone.
Transferring the photo to Photoshop, I then did my usual skin smoothing technique and contouring. to finish tidying up the image.
Comparing the two images together, I see that some of the 2020 techniques I implemented didn’t seem to work as well as I intended. With the Eclipse filter I had envisioned as the areas behind the cosplayer does not look natural. It’s a lesson I will learn from as I still want to illuminate the cosplayer more which I did achieve but failed to blend it with the background.
