I have seen this movie 3 times now and if I’m totally honest, I’m still not ready to do this review, which will be full of spoilers, so if you haven’t seen the movie……….WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU!? ITS BEEN A MONTH!
Ok so Avengers Infinity War, this movie, for me, took the formula that it has used for ages and flipped it on its head.
This movie was able to push the boundaries and leave you feeling a whole bunch of different emotions, and that comes not just from the movie itself, but from the advertising and you have to admit that when you think back, the trailers and the adverts have to have full marks for the amount of misdirects and coverups used to keep all secrets in tact for this movie.
This movie is the culmination of the three phases of Marvel movies that have laid the groundwork for a story concerning infinity stones and someone who wants to be the first to wield them all. It tells the story of Thanos, a man who is hell bent on seeking balance within the universe, by any means necessary, and those means were to be the infinty stones. Thanos’ search for the stones leads him around the universe, and ultimately, to Earth and along this journey, he encounters varying teams of The Avengers and The Guardians of the Galaxy. All these encounters lead to probably one of the most bold and brilliant third acts and final scene Marvel have ever produced. I feel like its safe to say that EVERYONE was taken aback by the final moments of Infinity War and have a bunch of questions leading up to the 4th installment of Avengers.
This has to be said, all performances from everyone involved were brilliant, Robert Downey Jnr was brilliant at channeling the fear and angst that he has been feeling since the finale of the first Avengers movie, Chris Hemsworth was funny and yet gave off the amazing feeling of a man who has lost so much and has nothing left to lose. I could go on about every single actor and actress that were in this movie but all I can say is that they were all amazing, and were able to portray the sense of despair and give off the impression that in the 10 years of movies, this is something new and something that is different to what we have seen before.
AND THAT. BLOODY. ENDING! I will gladly, GLADLY admit that I was crying my eyes out!
Oh don’t worry, there is a picture of Drax there, he’s just standing so incredibly still!
Now the costumes and designs were on point as well, slight differences to certain characters that mark a new change for each movie in Marvel’s way. The new Iron Man Mark 50 armour is amazing, the new spidey suit is stunning, although I didn’t much care for how the suit looked with the mask off, but that’s just my preference.
Cosplay wise, I would love to focus on, just like from the first Marvel movie, to now this most recent installment, how we as cosplayers grow and change and get better with each installment. Every time we make a new cosplay, we learn from our mistakes, we improve, we go back and we take on everything that went wrong, that went right, and we put that into our next build. The parallel between this and how the Marvel movies have grown, how Kevin Feige has looked at each installment and learnt about what works and what doesn’t work, is incredibly close.
I love to see what more people bring to the table, how people keep improving their skills, the same way the Marvel movies continue to get better and better. I think we can all agree….with the next Avengers movie, we are in for one HELL of a ride! buckle up and get ready people!
