***There are spoilers in this review, so if you have not seen this movie yet, in the cinema or on DVD, then I suggest you go!***
Story time: so I walk to the cinema sometimes. Takes about half hour to 40 minutes, but I always feel like I’ve done a good bit of exercise walking to go and see a movie. Well on this particular walk, I found a crisp £10 note! I was in a pretty dayum good mood going in to see this movie.
So Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, this movie brings back the characters of Owen Grady, played by Chris Pratt and Claire Dearing, played by Bryce Dallas Howard, as they go on a rescue mission to save the dinosaurs that were left on the Jurassic World island……..or so they think………
Now if I’m being honest, I did enjoy the movie but there were some parts of the movie that did fall a little flat for me. For one thing, if you have the amazing Jeff Goldblum back in your movie, you need to use him!!! I mean considering he appeared in trailers before movies talking about being in the brand new movie, I genuinely thought he would get longer than around 6 minutes! Also the scale of some of the dinosaurs just didn’t add up to me, seeing one dinosaur standing at a certain height in the wild, then seeing them standing a cage that granted while being very big, doesn’t seem to fit the scale of the dinosaur and yet said dinosaur roams the cage freely. And the mansion itself considering the dinosaurs and one certain antagonist dinosaur, seems to grow and shrink when the story needs to move forward.
With all that said, the chemistry between Pratt and Dallas Howard is amazing. Pratt shows alot of heart along with his usual humour and Dallas Howard I felt was able to deliver Claire Dearing with new layers that weren’t visible during the first Jurassic World movie. New characters Franklin Webb and Zia Rodriguez, played by Justice Smith and Daniella Pineda were a welcome addition to the subplot of the movie. To be honest I didn’t like Smith’s character at first but he grew on me a lot and Pineda was brilliant.
Now my question to the amazing cosplay community is…… where are my dinosaur cosplays? and I am NOT talking about those bloody blow up ones! I have seen some amazing displays of towering cosplays, outstanding foam work that can make foam look like trees. I would love to see the challenge that someone could bring to themselves creating some of the amazing creatures that are in this movie. Now as I speak I did see someone on that there social media is in the works of making a Blue Raptor cosplay but I want to see more! Because I know we can do it!
