Cosplay is all about creativity and having fun. We always love seeing cosplayers trying new things which is why we love Hijabi Hooligan and are so happy she got nominated for Cosplayer of the Week. We love how she has managed to take some of the iconic characters and costumes in the geek scene and be able to adapt them to her religion and look absolutely fantastic while doing it. The creativity behind how she adapts the costumes is amazing so you should definitely go and check out her page.

I think you’re possibly one of the most popular cosplayers I know who adapt costumes to suit your religious requirements. I hope you don’t mind me asking whether you pick cosplays to suit your hijab, and if there is a costume without a hood (like your assassin) how do you plan how to incorporate your hijab into the costume?
I do both! When I first started out I would choose cosplays that had hoods like Ezio, or headpieces, like Loki, so it would be easy to wear a hijab with, but as I’ve grown more confident in my cosplaying ability, I’ve started to pick cosplays that I can adapt to suit my hijab, such as Cap!
You have used a variety of different methods while making your costumes from foamwork to modifying corsets, which has been the most difficult skill you have had to master? Why?
Props, for sure. I’ve never been very good at propmaking, especially with foam, and I’ve definitely struggled with that! I am looking to learn from friends, though!
What advice would you give to new cosplayers?
Don’t be afraid of what others might think. The cosplay community is diverse and accepting and as long as you’re happy and comfortable, you’ll fit right in!
Last question, Will you ever make the Wonder Woman costume you posted, it looks fantastic?
Yes! I’m working on it as we speak! I’ll hopefully be posting my progress soon!
