Cosplayer of the Week: Cosplay & Minney

This week’s Cosplayer of the Week is Dragonball enthusiast and owner of Geek Print, Cosplay & Minney. He is a wickedly talented cosplayer who has often accompanied members of the Food and Cosplay team in their globe trotting adventures so it seemed only fair that we give him the spotlight and get him some very well deserved attention.

Age: 26

Location: Warrington, UK

What is your favourite food? Is ‘all of it’ an acceptable answer lol? I tend to cosplay characters that eat a lot too. Though, if I had to choose I can always do with a good Chinese.

You’ve cosplayed a rather large range of characters from Dragonball to RWBY and a giant beetle. How do you go about picking what you cosplay?

For the longest time I’d choose my favourite characters indiscriminately and try my best to fit that mould (look bishie and moody for Sasuke, aggressive and strong for Goku etc) but now that I’m a bit on the larger side after training for years I try to pick characters who I feel suit my body type that I also identify with.

You recently started taking part in competitive cosplay with your girlfriend, how are you finding it and how has it made an impact on how you view cosplay?

It’s an absolute blast! I love performing and being on stage, I’d suggest every cosplayer try it at least once. There’s nothing quite like the crowd applause for a good performance. The competitive world of cosplay has presented me with another level of quality, I think I have more of an eye than I used to after seeing what people are capable of.

You also run a geeky print business when you aren’t cosplaying, what would you say to anyone who is thinking about starting their own business, particularly in the geek sector?

I think the best advice I could give would be to make content that people want to buy, understand the feeling you want to provoke in people and then repeat that over and over again. If you see results then it works (keep doing it!) and if you don’t then it’s time to review what other sellers are doing that you aren’t.

If you could go back to noob Minney what would you tell him about what is in store?

‘You’re about to meet an incredible cosplay lady and you’ll both travel the world dressed like weirdos’
