Cosplayer of the Week: Yukeshiro

League of Legends cosplay has led to some beautiful costumes being created, one of the cosplayers who make these stunning creations is Yukeshiro from Poland. She’s beautiful and talented and her costumes are to die for! We decided to go and harass her with some questions about her costumes, and she was kind enough to reply to us!

Age: 20

Location: Cracov, Poland

What is your favourite food?

I don’t really have a favourite dish, but I guess that I’m attracted to the Japanese cuisine. Sushi rolls with eel taste heavenly!

You primarily cosplay League of Legends, what is it about League that attracts you to it?

I think that it’s the variety of designs to choose from, the costumes are nicely shaped and have interesting, vibrant colours. I also like the game and the characters with their personalities and lore, so cosplaying them feels even more amazing.

Some of your costumes are quite big with large armour pieces, how do you go about transporting your costume pieces?

(Sadly) I haven’t been to any conventions or events outside of my home country, so travelling wasn’t that big of an issue. I just buy large cardboard boxes, pack everything inside and hop into a car or a bus.

I have seen a lot of Ahri cosplays but they rarely have tails that stick up like yours do, how did you go about making sure the tails stayed upright properly?

That was a long and hard battle! I bought a lot of different kinds of wires and tested my harness until I was satisfied with how the tails looked. It wasn’t even that heavy and I am happy I managed to do it!

Your Shyvana is a beautiful costume, how did you start planning and patterning the costume? Did you make any mock ups/practice versions first?

To be honest with you, no. Whenever I worked on this costume, I was in such a hurry, that my hands moved on their own, so I haven’t made even a single mock up. But when I had time, I played with different ways of painting, to give her a bit of an icey feel, so I guess that counts.

What has been the most tricky technique you have had to master so far?

I think I needed to improve my painting skills a lot. It makes such a huge difference when your armour is painted and shaded properly, and I remember having a bit of a trouble with this at first. I also picked up worbla recently, and hope to do better and better with this material.

What advice would you give to new cosplayers?

Remmember that proper research is the key to success! I often spend hours browsing the net for tutorials and references. And also – have fun! This is what cosplay is about!
