Cosplayer of the Week: Vicky-Vic

Vicky-Vic is a beautiful and talented cosplayer from Australia who I have admired for some time. She has some amazing superhero cosplays and some great takes on popular male characters.

Age: 22

Location: Brisbane, Australia

What is your favourite food? Hawaiian Pizza

You seem to have a lot of pictures of your American Dream (AD is her own character) costume but which is your favourite costume and why?

It would be AD. I put so much work into her and I love that in the MC2 universe she is the Red, White and Blue. This was the first Cosplay I used Spandex and EVA foam on. Loads of things I never had worked with. So proud of this Cosplay. So it’s my fav.

I’m in love with your Sailor Pluto, how difficult was it to organise and coordinate such a big group of cosplayers for your sailor scout group?

So much trust. The group of girls involved are amazing. I trust them completely. Everyone in the group is talented and friendly. So we had an easy time working together. Communication is amazing. We actually just added another Scout to the group for next year stay tuned.

You cosplay some popular characters like Supergirl, a sailor scout, Jack sparrow, got any crazy stories from people’s reactions to your costumes?

I mainly get lots of wows and comments on nailing the Cosplay. Nothing too crazy to report at this point. But things can change. I do get heaps of people freak about my shield and then double freak on the signature from Stan Lee. They then ask if they can buy it. Answer is no.

You have also been cosplaying for quite a few years, how has the scene changed over the years, in your opinion?

To me it’s becoming more supportive and out there. People are learning new skills and telling people how they did it. To me Cosplay is becoming more supportive and amazing.

If money and time were no object, what would be your absolute dream cosplay?

Hmm. I’m seeing armour. Lots of Armour and skilled weapons. Probably some mass effect armour or halo Spartan armour.

What has been the most tricky technique you have had to master so far?

Stretch fabric for sure. Overlocker is a must for that and I learned the hard way about it. Spilt seams .

What advice would you give to new Cosplayers?

Ask. We love to share our skills and experience. New cosplayers are always amazing to see. I love to help people out on their Cosplays as best I can. Cosplay is about having fun and learning along the way. It is an amazing hobby and the people you meet along the way will change your life along the way.
